Leaving Uschgorod

Leaving Uschgorod 20/09/2016

After I took the shot of the church I drove to the border crossing at Uschgorod which was closed for some reason. People standing on the street protesting against something. I went up north to the next one and there I had some fun with Ukrainian police for 30 Euro.

Last gas station I was taking a break. Checking emails and stuff. Got off the gas station ground and drove direction border. Two police men were showing me the signal to stop. After I had parked the car I winded down my window and the two officers came by which was the moment when I realized it was only one guy, little bit fat. After we discussed our language problem in two different languages he called another officer who was the communication guy because he had Google translate on the phone. Another one was somewhere in the background. Google translate was at it’s best. After I had read quite a lot about flowers and stuff I figured out that I was turning left where it was forbidden.
So that’s the reason after about 1500 kilometers of driving Ukrainian style for getting a fine.
From there on there are some similarities to the gas station story. Didn’t have enough cash, big discussion, all four of us were driving to the next cash machine. After half an hour we were back at the point where they had pulled me out of traffic which was also the place where they told me that we would have to go back to the office next to the cash machine to get a receipt. What a coincidence.
Fine range started at 850 so we made 900 because that’s easier to divide by 3.

Asking for a picture with the four of us could have been suspicious to them so, sorry for that, just the story.
