Potholes
Potholes 12/09/2016
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs says one shouldn’t drive at night cause streets aren’t very well and safety is low. Hmm, Ukraine isn’t the only country which gets this comment. Anxious Germans.
I was impressed by the Polish drivers. One was overtaking ‚blind‘ infront of a corner and just when I was done thinking ‚whoa, he’s got balls‘ I saw a grandmother in the rear mirror in her Ford Fiesta setting the turn signal ready for the challenge and so actually she got the balls.
The typical Ukrainian driver goes even faster on worse streets. ‚worse‘ might not be the right word. Different maybe.
When heading south I drove on the M-06 which is a big one. Sometimes 4 lanes, always well prepared. After I took the picture of the sun set I was turning right to find a place to sleep. Tarmac turned into gravel and again into tarmac. Wouldn’t have been a problem to find a place but I was driving right in the camp fire fog so I continued looking.
Sometimes one has to drive especially carefull because the potholes are this way deep children might play in them. And sometimes there is more pothole than tarmac. Little bit less tarmac and it would be gravel again.
It took me about an hour for 15km to get back to the main road and out of the smoke area. Still everyone is burning everything in the evenening.
So the Ministry of foreign affairs has a point. Spoiled Germans.
At the end it was always worth going these streets.
